Full Moon Calendar 2026: Every Full and New Moon, With Dates, Times, Signs and Supermoons

2026 has thirteen full moons and twelve new moons. The extra full moon falls on May 31 and is a Blue Moon. The two supermoons are the Beaver Moon on November 24 and the Cold Moon on December 24, the closest full moon of the year at 356,729 kilometres. Two of the full moons are lunar eclipses, on March 3 and August 28, and two of the new moons are solar eclipses, on February 17 and August 12. Every time below is computed from the ephemeris and converted to Eastern, Pacific and UK clocks, with daylight saving applied for each date.

The 2026 full moon calendar

The full moon names are the traditional North American ones that almanacs and most search results use. The Harvest Moon is always the full moon nearest the autumn equinox, which in 2026 is September 26. The Hunter's Moon is the one after it.

The 2026 new moon calendar

The new moons walk backward through the zodiac by about a degree a month, from 28 degrees of Capricorn in January to 17 degrees of Sagittarius in December. That is why the same house of your chart hosts a new moon only once a year.

Which 2026 full moons are supermoons?

A supermoon is a full moon that falls near perigee, the Moon's closest point to Earth in its monthly orbit. Two definitions are in common use, and they give slightly different answers for 2026.

• December 24, Cold Moon: 356,729 km. A supermoon under every definition and the closest full moon of the year.
• November 24, Beaver Moon: 360,754 km. A supermoon under the widely used rule of within 90 percent of closest approach, and about 750 km outside the strict 360,000 km cut. Most almanacs list it.
• January 3, Wolf Moon: 362,301 km. Close, and included on some looser lists, but not a supermoon by either common rule.

The farthest full moon of the year, sometimes called a micromoon, is the Blue Moon on May 31 at 406,126 km. That is the smallest and dimmest full moon of 2026, which is a nice irony for the one with the most famous name.

The 2026 Blue Moon

May 2026 has two full moons, on May 1 and May 31. By the popular definition, the second full moon in a calendar month, May 31 is a Blue Moon. It falls at 9 degrees 56 minutes of Sagittarius. The older, seasonal definition, the third of four full moons in one astronomical season, does not apply in 2026, so May 31 is the year's only Blue Moon by any reckoning.

The four eclipses of 2026

The August pair is the one most people remember: a total solar eclipse in Leo, with Jupiter newly in Leo alongside it, followed sixteen days later by a lunar eclipse in Pisces. Both have their own guides: the August 12 solar eclipse and the August 28 lunar eclipse.
