Scorpio season is the fourth week-block of autumn in the northern hemisphere, the stretch when the Sun moves through the sign of depth, intimacy, shared resources and transformation. In 2026 the Sun crosses 0 degrees of Scorpio at 09:38 UTC on October 23 and leaves for Sagittarius at 07:23 UTC on November 22.

Every Scorpio season asks the same question: what are you avoiding looking at directly. This one asks it louder, because the two personal planets that govern love and communication are both moving backward through the same sign while the Sun is there.

What it means now

Scorpio is a fixed water sign ruled by Mars in the old system and Pluto in the modern one. Where Libra season weighed and balanced, Scorpio season commits and merges. The themes are intimacy, shared money, debt, inheritance, sex, power, secrets and the kind of ending that clears the ground for something real.

The collective mood in late October usually tightens. People say the thing they held back in the Libra weeks. Under a double retrograde that tendency turns backward as well as inward: the thing that gets said is often an old thing, a truth from months or years ago that finally finds words.

The practical instruction is simple. Do not force an outcome. Let what is hidden surface on its own, then respond to what is actually there rather than to what you feared or hoped was there.

Why this Scorpio season is different: two retrogrades in the sign

Venus stationed retrograde at 8 degrees of Scorpio on October 3, so by the time the Sun arrives Venus has already spent three weeks reviewing love, money and desire in this sign. On October 24, the day after the ingress, retrograde Venus passes directly between the Earth and the Sun at 0 degrees 45 minutes of Scorpio. Astrologers call this the inferior conjunction and treat it as the heart of the retrograde: the moment an old attachment is seen clearly and either released or renewed on new terms.

Four hours later Mercury stations retrograde at 20 degrees 59 minutes of Scorpio. So within one day of the season opening, both the planet of love and the planet of communication are moving backward in Scorpio. Conversations about intimacy, shared money and buried history run in reverse until both planets turn direct on November 13.

The last time Venus retrograded through Scorpio and Libra was October and November 2018. If a relationship or financial question from that autumn is still unresolved, this season tends to reopen it.

The Hunter's Moon square Pluto

The Full Moon on October 26 falls at 2 degrees 46 minutes of Taurus, opposite the Sun at 2 degrees 46 minutes of Scorpio. It is the Hunter's Moon, the first full moon after September's Harvest Moon, and both the Sun and Moon square Pluto at 3 degrees of Aquarius within a third of a degree.

That is the emotional peak of the season. Taurus asks what actually makes you secure, Scorpio asks what you have merged with someone else and Pluto asks what you are afraid to lose. Money, ownership and control come to a head, often through a conversation that has been avoided since the spring. Let it be a reckoning rather than a war.

Halloween and the Samhain point

Halloween on October 31 finds the Sun at 8 degrees of Scorpio with the Moon waxing in Cancer, both retrogrades still running. The festival's origin, Samhain, marked the midpoint between the autumn equinox and the winter solstice. Astronomically that midpoint is the Sun at 15 degrees of Scorpio, which in 2026 arrives on November 7, two days before the Scorpio New Moon. The astrological Samhain, in other words, is a week later than the calendar one, and it sits right on the season's fresh start.

The Scorpio New Moon and the double direct station

The New Moon at 16 degrees 54 minutes of Scorpio on November 9 is the cleanest moment of the season for a new intention, with one caveat: Mercury and Venus are still retrograde for four more days. Set the intention on the 9th, then act on it after the 13th, when Mercury turns direct at 10:52 am Eastern and Venus follows at 7:20 pm. From the second half of November the review is over. You know what you value and what you mean.

The rulers: Mars in Leo and Pluto direct

Mars, Scorpio's traditional ruler, spends the entire season in Leo, and on November 16 it meets Jupiter exactly at 25 degrees 53 minutes of Leo. That is the most energetic day of the month, a burst of confidence and appetite, and two days later the Sun squares both planets from 26 degrees of Scorpio. Watch for overreach around November 18: the big promise, the grand gesture, the purchase that felt brilliant at the time.

Pluto, the modern ruler, turned direct at 3 degrees of Aquarius on October 15, so the deep, structural changes of the year start moving outward again just as the Sun enters Pluto's sign. The Full Moon and the ingress both square it. Power and who holds it is a live question all month.

How to work with it

Do let the truth surface and respond to what is real, close an old financial or emotional account, sit with the Hunter's Moon reckoning without escalating it and set your Scorpio New Moon intention on November 9. Do reconnect with a person from 2018 if the season brings them back, for closure or for a new chapter on honest terms.

Do not start a brand new relationship or sign a joint financial agreement before November 13, do not use Halloween week to send the message you will regret, and do not confuse the Mars and Jupiter high of November 16 to 18 for a plan. Let both retrogrades finish, then move.
