The 2025 visit was a preview. Neptune turned retrograde on July 4, 2025 at 2 degrees 11 minutes of Aries, slid back into Pisces in October and turned direct on December 10, 2025 at 29 degrees 23 minutes of Pisces, the very last degree of the zodiac. When it crossed back into Aries in January 2026 it had finished with Pisces, the sign it had occupied since February 2012.

What does Neptune in Aries mean?

Neptune is the planet of dreams, faith, imagination, compassion and dissolving boundaries, with a shadow of illusion, escapism and deception. In modern astrology it rules Pisces. Aries is the first sign, cardinal fire, ruled by Mars: the impulse to begin, to act alone and to fight for something.

Neptune in Pisces (2012 to 2026) was Neptune at home: oceanic, collective, empathic and foggy, the era of infinite scrolling and blurred truth. Neptune in Aries turns the dream into a cause. The ideal stops being something you float in and becomes something you act on.

The themes astrologers expect:

• Idealism in action. Faith expressed through doing: activism, enterprise, sport, courage. Belief becomes personal and active rather than passive.
• The heroic self. New myths about the individual, the founder, the fighter and the self-made person, plus the danger of believing them too completely.

Neptune first entered Aries on April 13, 1861, retrograded back into Pisces on October 1, 1861 and settled on February 13, 1862. It first touched Taurus on June 8, 1874, dipped back and left Aries for good on April 7, 1875. Events from those years:

Astrologers read that period as Neptune in Aries in both of its faces: a war fought over an ideal of freedom, nations forged around a heroic story and, at the same time, the birth of modern humanitarian law in the Red Cross and the Geneva Convention, compassion organised into action. It ended with a group of painters showing work about the fleeting impression of light, a very Neptunian idea, presented in the most defiant Aries way: by putting on their own exhibition outside the official Salon.

How do Saturn and Neptune in Aries work together?

The defining feature of this Neptune transit is that Saturn arrived in Aries at almost the same moment. Saturn met Neptune at 0 degrees 45 minutes of Aries on February 20, 2026 at 18:29 UTC, their first conjunction since 1989 and the first in Aries since 1703. Saturn stays in Aries until April 13, 2028, so for just over two years the planet of reality and the planet of dreams share the first sign of the zodiac.

Saturn asks whether the dream is real and Neptune asks whether the structure has meaning. Together they reward people who take a vision and build it slowly, and they expose castles in the air. The two meet again in aspect later in the transit: a sextile on June 27, 2031, a square that is exact three times (September 16, 2033, January 13, 2034 and June 25, 2034) and a trine that is exact three times between September 2036 and June 2037. The 2033 to 2034 square is the midpoint test of whatever was started in 2026.

Which other aspects does Neptune make from Aries?

July 2026 was the busiest stretch of the decade for the outer planets. Within ten days, Uranus sextiled Neptune (July 15), Uranus trined Pluto (July 18), Jupiter trined Neptune and opposed Pluto (both July 20) and Neptune sextiled Pluto (July 24). When is Neptune retrograde in Aries?

Neptune is retrograde for about five months of every year, roughly 43 percent of 2026. Each retrograde begins in July or early August and ends in December or early January:

Who is the Neptune in Aries generation?

Anyone born from March 30 to October 22, 2025 or from January 26, 2026 to March 23, 2039 (except May 22 to October 21, 2038, when Neptune was in Taurus) has Neptune in Aries. Like Pluto, Neptune describes a generation more than a person.
