2027 Astrology Calendar: Every Retrograde, Eclipse and Major Transit
Last verified October 2026
Every retrograde, eclipse and major transit of 2027, computed from the ephemeris: three Mercury retrogrades, Mars retrograde in Virgo and Leo, no Venus retrograde, five eclipses including the August 2 total solar eclipse, Jupiter into Virgo, every new and full moon and what it means for your sign.

2027 has three Mercury retrogrades, one Mars retrograde and no Venus retrograde at all. It has five eclipses, led by the total solar eclipse of August 2, the longest total solar eclipse of any year from 2010 to 2100. Jupiter changes sign once, entering Virgo on July 26. Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto hold their current signs for the whole year. Every date, time and degree below is computed from the ephemeris for the tropical zodiac, not copied from a list. Times are given in Universal Time (UTC) with Eastern, Pacific and UK conversions. North America is on daylight time from March 14 to November 7. The UK is on British Summer Time from March 28 to October 31.
This is the reference page for the whole year. For the month that leads into it, read the December 2026 astrology calendar.
The ten biggest astrological events of 2027, ranked
- August 2: total solar eclipse at 9 degrees 55 minutes of Leo. Greatest eclipse is at 10:06 UTC, which is 6:06 am Eastern. Totality lasts about 6 minutes 25 seconds at Luxor in Egypt. Only the eclipse of July 22, 2009 ran longer this century. No total eclipse from now to 2100 will match it.
- July 26: Jupiter enters Virgo. At 04:45 UTC, which is 12:45 am Eastern on July 26 and 9:45 pm Pacific on July 25. Jupiter has been in Leo since June 30, 2026 and stays in Virgo until August 24, 2028. Jupiter in Leo guide.
- January 10 to April 1: Mars retrograde. Mars stations retrograde at 10 degrees 26 minutes of Virgo, backs into Leo on February 21 and turns direct at 20 degrees 56 minutes of Leo. The only Mars retrograde of 2027 and 2028.
- February 6: annular solar eclipse at 17 degrees 38 minutes of Aquarius. A ring of fire over Uruguay, the South Atlantic and West Africa.
- June 15: Uranus trine Pluto, exact at 6 degrees 52 minutes of Gemini and Aquarius. The third of five exact passes that run from July 2026 to May 2028.
- April 3 and July 11: Jupiter trine Saturn. The second and third exact passes, after the first on August 31, 2026. Growth and structure in the same fire-sign rhythm.
- February 9, June 10 and October 7: Mercury stations retrograde. Each one starts in a water sign and backs into the air sign before it.
- September 10: Jupiter square Uranus at 9 degrees 57 minutes of Virgo and Gemini. A single exact pass, and the year's most likely moment for a sudden change of direction.
- January 22: the Wolf Moon, the only full-moon supermoon of 2027. 357,635 kilometres from Earth, the closest full moon of the year.
- August 9 to December 24: Saturn's last retrograde in Aries. Saturn turns retrograde at 27 degrees 53 minutes of Aries and enters Taurus on April 13, 2028, without returning to Aries.
Every Mercury retrograde in 2027
Mercury turns retrograde three times in 2027. Each retrograde starts in a water sign (Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio) and backs into the air sign before it (Aquarius, Gemini, Libra). The shadow is the stretch of the zodiac Mercury covers three times: it opens when Mercury first reaches the degree where it will later turn direct, and it closes when Mercury returns to the degree where it turned retrograde.
| Mercury retrograde | Shadow begins | Stations retrograde | Stations direct | Shadow ends |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| First, Pisces into Aquarius | January 25 | February 9, 17:35 UTC (12:35 pm EST) at 5 degrees 59 minutes Pisces | March 3, 12:34 UTC (7:34 am EST) at 20 degrees 55 minutes Aquarius | March 23 |
| Second, Cancer into Gemini | May 26 | June 10, 18:18 UTC (2:18 pm EDT) at 6 degrees 22 minutes Cancer | July 4, 19:40 UTC (3:40 pm EDT) at 27 degrees 28 minutes Gemini | July 19 |
| Third, Scorpio into Libra | September 17 | October 7, 14:40 UTC (10:40 am EDT) at 4 degrees 56 minutes Scorpio | October 28, 14:10 UTC (10:10 am EDT) at 19 degrees 19 minutes Libra | November 13 |
February 9 to March 3. Mercury turns retrograde in Pisces and slips back into Aquarius on February 18, then returns to Pisces on March 18. Pisces themes come first: intuition, endings and the things left unsaid. The back half in Aquarius revisits group plans, technology and friends.
June 10 to July 4. Mercury turns retrograde in Cancer and re-enters Gemini on June 26, returning to Cancer on July 12. Family conversations and old memories come up, then the busy Gemini business of messages, siblings and paperwork. It turns direct on the afternoon of July 4 in North America.
October 7 to 28. Mercury turns retrograde in Scorpio and backs into Libra on October 16. It re-enters Scorpio on November 10 UTC, which is the evening of November 9 in North America. Secrets, money that is shared and the terms of a partnership are the subjects. The next Mercury retrograde after this one begins on January 24, 2028, at 19 degrees 42 minutes of Aquarius. For how 2026 compared, see Mercury retrograde 2026 dates.
Is Venus retrograde in 2027?
No. 2027 is one of the years with no Venus retrograde at all. Venus turned direct on November 13, 2026 and cleared its shadow on December 15, 2026 (Venus Retrograde 2026 guide). The next Venus retrograde begins at 19 degrees 41 minutes of Gemini on May 10, 2028 (7:01 pm Eastern) and ends at 3 degrees 11 minutes of Gemini on June 22, 2028. That makes 2027 a steady year for love and money: Venus moves forward through fifteen sign changes.

Mars retrograde 2027
| Mars retrograde phase | Date | UTC | Eastern | Position |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shadow begins | November 5, 2026 | 15:33 | 10:33 am EST | 20 degrees 56 minutes Leo |
| Stations retrograde | January 10 | 13:01 | 8:01 am EST | 10 degrees 26 minutes Virgo |
| Retrogrades back into Leo | February 21 | 14:15 | 9:15 am EST | 29 degrees 59 minutes Leo |
| Stations direct | April 1 | 14:10 | 10:10 am EDT | 20 degrees 56 minutes Leo |

| Shadow ends | June 8 | 01:59 | 9:59 pm EDT June 7 | 10 degrees 26 minutes Virgo |
Mars rules drive, anger and the body. Retrograde in Virgo it slows work and health routines down for repair. Back in Leo from February 21 it reopens a question about pride, play or a creative project. Mars squares Uranus three times across this cycle: December 4, 2026, February 17, 2027 and May 29, 2027 (the evening of May 28 in North America). Those are the three dates most prone to sudden frustration, so leave room in the schedule. After the retrograde Mars moves on through Libra (July 15), Scorpio (September 2), Sagittarius (October 15) and Capricorn (November 25), with dates in UTC. The next Mars retrograde begins on February 14, 2029, in Libra.
Every eclipse of 2027
| Date | Eclipse | Sign and degree | Greatest eclipse UTC | Eastern | Pacific | UK |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| February 6 | Annular solar eclipse | 17 degrees 38 minutes Aquarius | 15:59 | 10:59 am EST | 7:59 am PST | 3:59 pm GMT |
| February 20 | Penumbral lunar eclipse | 2 degrees 06 minutes Virgo | 23:12 | 6:12 pm EST | 3:12 pm PST | 11:12 pm GMT |
| July 18 | Penumbral lunar eclipse, a very slight one | 25 degrees 49 minutes Capricorn | 16:02 | 12:02 pm EDT | 9:02 am PDT | 5:02 pm BST |
| August 2 | Total solar eclipse | 9 degrees 55 minutes Leo | 10:06 | 6:06 am EDT | 3:06 am PDT | 11:06 am BST |
| August 17 | Penumbral lunar eclipse | 24 degrees 12 minutes Aquarius | 07:13 | 3:13 am EDT | 12:13 am PDT | 8:13 am BST |
Both solar eclipses fall on the Leo and Aquarius axis, the same axis as the February and August 2026 eclipses. Astrologers read eclipses as accelerators: what they touch in your chart tends to move faster in the months that follow. All three lunar eclipses are penumbral, meaning the Moon passes only through Earth's outer shadow. The dimming is subtle and the July 18 eclipse barely grazes the shadow for about 25 minutes.
The August 2 total solar eclipse. The Moon is new 3.7 hours after perigee, so it looks large, while Earth is a month past its farthest point from the Sun, so the Sun looks small. That combination produces the long totality. Computed for specific places: about 4 minutes 29 seconds at Gibraltar, 4 minutes 54 seconds at Tangier in Morocco, 6 minutes 13 seconds at Benghazi in Libya, 6 minutes 25 seconds at Luxor in Egypt and 6 minutes 2 seconds at Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. Cadiz and Malaga in southern Spain, Mecca in Saudi Arabia and Sanaa in Yemen are also inside the path. London sees a partial eclipse with about 42 percent of the Sun's disc covered, at 10:00 am BST. No part of the contiguous US sees it; only far eastern Canada catches the end of a small partial eclipse at sunrise. These durations come from our ephemeris model, and published figures can differ by a few seconds because of the Moon's uneven edge.
The February 6 annular eclipse. The Moon is new three days after apogee, too far away to cover the Sun, so a bright ring remains. Punta del Este in Uruguay sees about 5 minutes 25 seconds of the ring and the longest ring, close to 7 minutes 47 seconds, falls over the South Atlantic. The path ends near sunset over West Africa, with Accra and Lagos inside it. Buenos Aires sees a deep partial eclipse with about 82 percent of the Sun's disc covered. It is not visible from North America or the UK.
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto in 2027
| Planet | Sign in 2027 | Range in 2027 | Stations in 2027 | Next sign change |

| Uranus | Gemini all year | 1 degree 41 minutes to 9 degrees 57 minutes Gemini | Direct February 8 at 1 degree 41 minutes; retrograde September 15 at 9 degrees 57 minutes | None before 2030 |
| Neptune | Aries all year | 1 degree 43 minutes to 6 degrees 40 minutes Aries | Retrograde July 9 at 6 degrees 40 minutes; direct December 15 at 3 degrees 51 minutes | None before 2030 |
| Pluto | Aquarius all year | 4 degrees 21 minutes to 7 degrees 11 minutes Aquarius | Retrograde May 8 at 7 degrees 11 minutes; direct October 18 at 03:51 UTC (11:51 pm EDT October 17) at 4 degrees 45 minutes | Pisces, March 2043 |
Jupiter starts 2027 retrograde. It turned retrograde at 27 degrees 01 minute of Leo on December 13, 2026. Its April 13 station at 17 degrees opens the forward run that carries it into Virgo. Saturn and Neptune met at 0 degrees of Aries in February 2026 (Saturn and Neptune conjunction guide). In 2027 Saturn pulls ahead, from 8 degrees to nearly 28, while Neptune moves only five degrees. Jupiter's entry to Virgo is the only outer-planet sign change of the year.
The major outer-planet aspects of 2027
| Date | Aspect | Degree | UTC | Eastern |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| January 15 | Uranus sextile Neptune | 1 degree 56 minutes Gemini and Aries | 07:21 | 2:21 am EST |
| April 3 | Jupiter trine Saturn | 17 degrees 08 minutes Leo and Aries | 13:22 | 9:22 am EDT |
| June 6 | Uranus sextile Neptune | 6 degrees 22 minutes Gemini and Aries | 12:03 | 8:03 am EDT |
| June 15 | Uranus trine Pluto | 6 degrees 52 minutes Gemini and Aquarius | 08:01 | 4:01 am EDT |
| June 28 | Neptune sextile Pluto | 6 degrees 38 minutes Aries and Aquarius | 20:34 | 4:34 pm EDT |
| July 11 | Jupiter trine Saturn | 27 degrees 10 minutes Leo and Aries | 22:45 | 6:45 pm EDT |
| September 10 | Jupiter square Uranus | 9 degrees 57 minutes Virgo and Gemini | 16:36 | 12:36 pm EDT |
| October 16 | Neptune sextile Pluto | 4 degrees 45 minutes Aries and Aquarius | 18:03 | 2:03 pm EDT |
June is the year's slow-planet month: Uranus, Neptune and Pluto all link up within three weeks, in supportive sextiles and a trine rather than hard angles. The June 6 Uranus and Neptune sextile is the last exact pass of a series that began in August 2025. The two Neptune and Pluto sextiles continue a series that started in July 2026 and runs through at least 2030.

2027 has twelve full moons and thirteen new moons. August holds two new moons, on August 2 and August 31, so the second is a Black Moon by the popular definition. No calendar month has two full moons, so there is no monthly Blue Moon. By the older seasonal rule, the third full moon in a season that holds four, the May 20 Flower Moon is a Blue Moon: spring 2027 runs from March 20 to June 21 and holds full moons on March 22, April 20, May 20 and June 19. The Harvest Moon, the full moon nearest the September equinox, is September 15, about a week before the equinox. The names are the traditional North American ones almanacs use. For the year before, see the 2026 full moon calendar.
Supermoons in 2027
- January 22, Wolf Moon: 357,635 km. The only full-moon supermoon of 2027 and the closest full moon of the year. It falls 14.5 hours after the closest perigee of 2027, at 357,273 km. It qualifies under both common rules: the strict 360,000 km cut and the rule of within 90 percent of the year's closest approach, which for 2027 works out to 362,205 km.
- February 20, Snow Moon: 363,296 km. Close, and it may appear on looser lists, but it misses both rules.
- July 18, Buck Moon: 405,968 km. The farthest full moon of 2027, sometimes called a micromoon. It is also a penumbral lunar eclipse.
Two new moons also fall inside 360,000 km, on July 4 (358,793 km) and August 2 (357,375 km). A new moon is invisible, but the August 2 one is the reason the total eclipse runs so long.

What 2027 means for each sign
Read for your Sun sign and your rising sign, with houses counted whole-sign from your sign. The big three for everyone are where Jupiter moves (Leo, then Virgo), where Saturn works all year (Aries) and where the eclipses land (Leo and Aquarius). Your sign's horoscope page has a full 2027 year-ahead tab.
- Aries: Saturn and Neptune spend the whole year in your sign, and Saturn moves from 8 to nearly 28 degrees. This is the year to rebuild how you show up, slowly and on purpose. Jupiter brightens your fifth house of romance and creativity until July 26, then your sixth house of work and health.
- Taurus: Jupiter warms your fourth house of home until July 26, then your fifth house of joy and children. The eclipses cross your fourth and tenth houses, rebalancing home and career. Saturn in your twelfth house makes 2027 a quiet year of preparation before it enters your sign in April 2028.
- Gemini: Uranus is in your sign all year, so change keeps arriving on its own schedule. Jupiter moves from your third house of learning to your fourth house of home on July 26 and squares Uranus on September 10. A move or a change in family life is possible. Mercury, your ruler, backs into your sign in June.
- Cancer: Jupiter sits in your second house of money until July 26, then moves to your third house of learning and messages. Saturn in your tenth house asks for serious, patient career effort. Mercury turns retrograde in your sign on June 10.
- Leo: Jupiter stays in your sign until July 26 and the total eclipse of August 2 falls in your sign a week later. It is the most personal eclipse of the year for any sign. Mars retrograde backs into your sign from February 21 to May 14. From July 26 Jupiter turns to your second house of money.
- Virgo: Jupiter enters your sign on July 26 for its visit of about a year, which comes round roughly every twelve years. Mars turns retrograde in your sign on January 10. The February 20 lunar eclipse also falls in your sign. Start the year patiently and finish it expanding.
- Libra: Saturn and Neptune hold your seventh house of partnership all year, so commitments get tested and clarified. Jupiter lights your eleventh house of friends until July 26, then your twelfth house of rest and reflection. Mercury retrograde backs into your sign on October 16.
- Scorpio: Jupiter crowns your tenth house of career until July 26, then moves to your eleventh house of friends and hopes. The eclipses cross your career and home houses. Mercury turns retrograde in your sign on October 7, so review before you sign.
- Sagittarius: Jupiter, your ruler, sits in your ninth house of travel and study until July 26, then rises to your tenth house of career for the rest of the year. Saturn in your fifth house makes romance and creativity more serious and more lasting.
- Capricorn: Saturn, your ruler, works through your fourth house of home and family all year. Jupiter moves from your eighth house of shared money to your ninth house of travel and study on July 26. The faint July 18 lunar eclipse falls in your sign.
- Aquarius: both eclipse seasons hit your sign: the February 6 annular eclipse and the August 17 lunar eclipse. Pluto stays in your sign all year. Jupiter in your seventh house of partnership until July 26 favours a committed relationship or a business partner.
- Pisces: Saturn and Neptune, your modern ruler, sit in your second house of money all year, so budgets reward clear structure. Jupiter moves from your sixth house of work to your seventh house of partnership on July 26. Mercury turns retrograde in your sign on February 9.
How to use this calendar
Mark the three Mercury retrograde windows and keep launches, contracts and big purchases outside them, especially the first and last days. Use Mars retrograde from January 10 to April 1 for repair rather than attack. Plan for the August 2 eclipse well ahead if you want to see it, and treat both eclipse months as times when events speed up. Expect the big personal shift of the year around July 26, when Jupiter changes sign and lights a new house for every sign.
